Learning at Newburgh

About training

Newburgh Sailing Club is an RYA affiliated club and recognised Royal Yachting Association Training Centre. We provide structured sailing and powerboat training for both children and adults in a supportive and relaxed environment.
Our courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as sailors wishing to improve skills or gain qualifications. Training is delivered by qualified RYA instructors and supported by experienced volunteers and safety boat crews.
You do not need any previous sailing experience to take part.

Below is a selection of training courses we can offer and to enquire about anything please get in contact with us.

Training Week

The highlight of our sailing year
Every summer Newburgh Sailing Club runs its annual Training Week — a five-day programme that brings together beginners, improvers and experienced sailors for a full week of learning, activity and fun on the water.

Throughout the week we run multiple RYA stages and levels at the same time, allowing sailors of all ages and abilities to take part. Some participants step into a boat for the very first time, while others work towards advanced skills and instructor pathways.

Training Week is open to both juniors and adults. Sailors are grouped by ability, not age, so everyone can learn at a pace that suits them and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Alongside the sailing courses, we also offer Assistant Instructor training, giving young sailors the opportunity to begin their journey towards becoming RYA instructors and club volunteers.
