Thinking about joining?

You don’t need a boat, experience, or sailing knowledge before coming to Newburgh Sailing Club.
Many of our members had never sailed before their first visit.
We are a friendly, volunteer-run club where people learn at their own pace. Some members sail every week, some sail occasionally, and some simply enjoy the atmosphere and community.

Complete Beginners

You don’t need any sailing experience before visiting. We will introduce you to the club, explain how everything works and help you get on the water safely. Many of our members started with no knowledge at all.
You can learn gradually, sail with others, or attend training — there is no pressure and no expectations.

Returning or Experienced Sailors

If you have sailed before, you will find regular racing, organised sailing days and an active fleet. Visiting sailors and those returning after a break are always welcome.

You can race competitively, sail casually, or simply enjoy being back on the water.

A Friendly Community Club

Newburgh Sailing Club is a volunteer-run club where all members are equally valued.
Some members race every week.
Some sail occasionally.
Some come for the company and atmosphere.

New members are introduced and supported — you won’t be left standing wondering what to do.

What you can do as a member

Membership allows you to:

  • Sail on organised sailing days
  • Take part in racing
  • Join training sessions
  • Crew with experienced sailors
  • Use clubhouse facilities
  • Attend social events
  • Store a boat at the club (space permitting)
  • Take part in junior sailing

You can be as involved as you like — competitive, recreational, or purely social.

Families & young sailors

Families are a major part of the club and many parents learn alongside their children.
Safety cover boats are always on the water during organised sailing sessions and young sailors are supported both afloat and ashore. Children can change indoors and warm up in the clubhouse after sailing.
Parents do not need sailing experience.
